What you will do:
1. Provide oversight and strategic direction across multiple feature teams, ensuring processes and standards are followed along the route to live and ensuring high quality solutions are designed and built.
2. Work with Architecture and various Engineering disciplines to ensure solutions designed align with architectural and engineering principles and strategic direction of the Bank, including participation in relevant design forums and governance activities.
3. Facilitate collaboration across different teams and departments, ensuring coherent and integrated technical solutions and ensuring there is a regular cadence to manage dependencies where needed.
4. Participate in budget planning and resource allocation, ensuring optimal use of technical resources.
5. Interact and engage with feature team Tech Leads and Engineers, identifying any skills, knowledge, or experience gaps, and ensuring delivery of training or coaching requirements to fill any gaps with the relevant Chapter Leads.
6. Work with multiple stakeholders across the organisation to drive innovation and strategic initiatives, including research activities into new technologies and methodologies when required.

What you will need:
1. Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders.
2. Experience and proven track record in Engineering and software development - expert knowledge in the technology in their field and fully conversant with supporting best practices.
3. Skilled in delivering technology change using Agile and iterative delivery methods, with experience implementing and adopting DevOps practices, automation, pipelines and cloud technologies.
4. Skilled in Leading teams of Engineers (onsite and outsourced) within a technology environment comprising multiple applications.
5. Experience working with technical resources across multiple technology disciplines as well as multiple third-party vendors and suppliers.
6. Ability to work across multiple feature teams with a strong background in technical leadership.
7. An ability to acquire good technical knowledge of applications, platforms, products and solutions.
8. Experience and knowledge of design practices, working with Solution Architecture and Engineering to design, document and implement technology solutions.
