We are seeking a Principal Technical Architect to join a growing technology team. This senior role guides the organisation's technology strategy, overseeing a team of technical architects and participating in high-level discussions. The role involves chairing the Design Authority, supervising architects, establishing KPIs, and improving technology performance. The Principal Technical Architect will lead the development of an Enterprise Architecture Practice, drive CI/CD capabilities, implement cyber defence mechanisms, and oversee cloud transitions.
Key responsibilities include:
• Chairing the Design Authority to uphold architectural standards and best practices.
• Supervising and mentoring technical architects in a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence.
• Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators to enhance technology performance, availability, and reduce time to market.
• Leading the development and implementation of an Enterprise Architecture Practice, including policies, processes, and reusable design patterns to minimise technical debt and improve user experience.
• Driving the creation of CI/CD (DevSecOps) capabilities, automating workflows to streamline transitions from non-production to production environments while ensuring security compliance.
• Implementing advanced cyber defence mechanisms to address active risks and establish a zero-trust architecture across platforms.
• Overseeing the transition to public cloud services, redesigning capabilities to leverage cloud-native features effectively.
• Providing technical assurance across multidisciplinary teams, addressing complex business and technical challenges effectively.
• Engaging in presales activities, designing solutions that meet client needs and presenting these solutions to stakeholders.
• Acting as the technical lead for bids and ITT submissions, ensuring proposals are comprehensive, competitive, and aligned with client requirements.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Active SC or be eligible to undergo a high level security clearance (e.g. UK Citizenship).
• Relevant industry certifications such as ITIL, AGILE, TOGAF, or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to develop and implement technology strategies and policies that align with governmental standards.
• Project experience in designing migrations to public cloud environments, automation of platforms/products/services, server/operating system/network technologies, and VMware virtualisation platforms (such as VCF, VCD, VSAN, and NSX).
• Familiarity with SASE architecture, as well as Cisco and Palo Alto technologies.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships across various disciplines and stakeholders.
• Proficient in documentation and time management, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
• A thorough understanding of cloud technologies, including experience with Microsoft 365 and AWS, as well as knowledge of security frameworks and best practices.
