What you’ll be doing:
1. Manage the engineering resource and the commercial management of the projects across the Building Services Group, including employees across the mechanical, electrical, utilities, BIM, energy and BREEAM teams.
2. Support growth and maximise the profitability of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) cost centre, in accordance with the strategic plans and budgets by managing the operational delivery and bidding of all MEP projects and resources.
3. Manage, plan, review and deliver multi-disciplined projects ensuring client requirements and deadlines are met.
4. Lead the financial performance of the different offices within the Building Services cost centre and any other strategic initiatives.
5. Overall responsibility and accountability for active, accurate financial management of projects to deliver budgeted performance and KPIs.
6. Ensure all work carried out is subject to RPS Terms and Conditions and that all tenders submitted are approved.

9. Oversee and manage commercial terms and scope of service with Clients. Ensure all fee proposals issued are of a sufficient quality and on commercial terms which align with budgetary requirements.
10. Actively oversee and manage delivery of projects including additional fees for variations and increases in scope. Manage invoices and debt recovery.
11. Support the development of relationships with existing clients and key stakeholders.
12. Lead proposals and/or bid processes which may involve collaborating with other parts of the business using RPS Bid Processes.
13. Identify and support wider BD initiatives including attending relevant sector group meetings, providing market intelligence and input to strategy and business plans and preparing tenders.
14. Support the Operations Director in the preparation of strategic business plans and supporting the wider business development initiatives.
15. Manage the MEP group compliance with the businesses Integrated Management Systems.
16. Manage changes needed to support the ongoing evolution of the IMS system and how it is implemented within the MEP group.
17. Ensure all monthly financial information is analysed and updated accordingly.
18. Ensure staff are issued with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment relevant to their role.
19. Assist the Operations Director with ad-hoc duties as and when required.

2. Have a background in Building Services design (mechanical and electrical design).
3. Ideally an Incorporated or a Chartered Engineer or an Engineering-based degree.
4. Ideally 10 years of experience within the industry and experience of leading or supporting the operations of a team of staff with a range of different concurrent projects.
5. Have a strong level of experience in the industry and want to progress but prefer an inward-focused role, as opposed to an external/client-focused business generating role.
6. The role is ideal for an individual who has had experience in a demanding internal and external role but would like to focus on internal work and not have to do marketing and business development.
