The post holder will be joining our Performance & Informatics (P&I) department who are well respected and the largest of our corporate services. The P&I portfolio encompasses Business Intelligence & Informatics, Corporate Performance, Information Systems Development, Analytical Development, Clinical Coding, Data Quality, Patient Access and Cancer Services. This is a lead management role within Performance & Informatics responsible for Cancer Services, pathway development, implementation and management of processes and systems to provide assurance that the Trust is managing access to Cancer Services appropriately as well as delivering against National standards. The post has key functions as a Trust expert on Cancer Access policies and is responsible for leading on the development and maintenance of operational procedures in accordance with national guidelines. The post holder will work with Clinical Groups and Specialties to provide governance and challenge against national standards and key performance indicators taking necessary action to ensure that they are delivered. This is a senior post within P&I and therefore the successful candidate will be required to work on-site for a minimum of four days per week, with the first three months working on-site five days to understand current practices and to build relationships and networks. Assist the Head of Cancer Services in planning, development and redesign of services and processes to lead improvements across Cancer pathways. Lead and implement the Trust’s Cancer Services strategy, both internally and across the local health economy. The post holder will provide a Trust wide focus for Cancer Services, working closely with clinicians and senior managers and executives across the Trust and the Coventry and Warwickshire System ICB to ensure continuing improvements in cancer services in line with national strategy and NHS Operating Framework requirements including Cancer Waiting Times Targets, National Cancer Audits, National Cancer Peer Review, Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset and all related published standards and guidance. Deputise accordingly for the Head of Cancer Services for internal and external commitments as required. Attend and chair necessary meetings working as part of the Senior Management within P&I, to provide governance and assurance on Cancer Care. Line management of teams directly responsible for the delivery of Cancer pathways. Provide leadership and motivation to the Cancer Services team, supporting their personal and professional development. Maintain a skilled and motivated Cancer Services team who are able to provide specialist skills and knowledge to support the Trust in performance management. Provide assurance to the Trust on compliance of policy and performance reporting for Cancer pathways. Including leading on validation of performance across National standards. Provide key support and resource to Clinical Groups and Specialties in the operational management and delivery of performance against Cancer pathway targets. Providing challenge and governance of recovery plans to achieve performance improvement. Achieve improvement in the completeness and accuracy of data recording and ensure data quality processes are in place. To produce and facilitate a robust audit programme to ensure local and Trustwide accurate data capture and adherence to local and national rules and standards. Regularly monitor Cancer standards and targets for the Trust and provide papers/reports to senior managers and Trust Board, providing performance and delivery updates, raising escalations and translate complex information. Formulate and be responsible for the implementation and review of the Trust’s Access Policies and aligned standard operating procedures to support and underpin the policy. Including responsibility for maintenance of user-friendly Administration Patient Pathway Intranet site to provide accurate and timely information relating to pathway management. Analyse complex problems with regards to pathway management and work with clinical services to devise practical and workable solutions. Work with Informatics and IT application management teams in ensuring systems fully support accurate pathway management for internal and external reporting. Responsible for the development, delivery and sustainability of training packages around Cancer Services. Ensuring all staff are competent on the delivery of national rules and pathway management. Responsibility for the budget within your team regularly reviewing establishments and skill mix to ensure they are effectively managed and have organisational efficiency. Undertake project work as and when required to support the delivery of local and national performance targets. To undertake any other duties as required in accordance with the grade and nature of the post.
