CONSULTANTS RESPIRATORY MEDICINE
Base: Scarborough Hospital
Whole time – 10 Programmes Activities
The Internal Medicine Department at Scarborough Hospital is seeking enthusiastic and innovative consultants for the following medical specialties: Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Acute Medicine, and Diabetes and Endocrinology Medicine.
The successful candidate will work closely with the existing medical consultants across the Medicine Care Group to provide specialist expertise and contribute to general work. You will join well-established consultant-led teams based in Scarborough.
The job plan will be a prospective agreement that sets out the consultant's typical working pattern, duties and responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. It will cover all aspects of a consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, clinical governance, teaching, research, education, managerial responsibilities, and external commitments. There will be GIM, Acute, and Cardiology on-call responsibilities included in the job plans.
The Internal Medicine service is well respected clinically and actively involved in research and undergraduate education through the Hull York Medical School. There are plenty of opportunities to develop a teaching role if desired, and there are well-established links with Tertiary Hospitals in Hull.
The posts are up to 10 PAs. Additional programmed activities may be offered to the postholder. Any offer of additional programmed activities will be based on the needs of the service and in line with the Trust objectives and will be reviewed at least annually. A core of 1.25 PAs of SPA time is provided per week, and additional SPAs are available depending on additional duties agreed within the job plan.
Any private practice commitments will be discussed with your Clinical Director and will be entered into a prospective job plan. Any changes will need to be discussed, and an amended job plan agreed. Consultants must ensure that they meet the code of conduct for private practice at all times.
