Job Title: Technical Manager / Draughtsman – Architectural & Structural Steelwork Location: North London Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Up to £65,000 package About the Role: Are you an experienced Technical Manager, Design Manager, or Draughtsman with expertise in steelwork design? This role offers the opportunity to work on bespoke and secondary steelwork projects, utilising your skills in Tekla Structures to produce detailed and accurate drawings for fabrication and installation. Join one of London's leading architectural and structural steel company who specialise in structural steelwork and architectural metalwork throughout the UK. Roles and Responsibilities: Oversee and manage a team of draughtsmen working on 6–8 projects with values up to £20m. Develop precise 3D models and fabrication drawings for secondary steelwork using Tekla Structures. Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed part lists (Bills of Materials). Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and the fabrication team to ensure designs align with project specifications and deadlines. Analyse client specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to produce accurate designs. Update and refine drawings based on feedback from clients, engineers, or site teams. Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and internal quality assurance processes. Actively participate in design meetings, offering innovative solutions during project development. Address technical queries during fabrication and installation to ensure seamless project execution. Maintain organised records of all drawings and revisions for easy tracking and reference. Requirements: Minimum of 3 years’ experience using Tekla Structures in the steelwork industry. Proven experience in secondary steelwork projects such as staircases, balustrades, platforms, and bespoke fabrications. Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes. Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality, accurate drawings. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative project team. Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
