Quantity Surveyor
Sedgwick Commercial Surveying & Design develops and services both the major and complex loss insurance market and continue the professional service offering to non-insurance markets and existing clients. This is varied team and includes graduates, experienced MRICS Building Surveyors, RIBA Architect and Technicians.
To support continued growth, we have a fantastic opportunity to welcome new talent to our team. We are looking to hire a MRICS qualified Quantity Surveyor, with experience within the Insurance sector and Project Management of projects up to £10m. The position is a national role, working between our regional offices and at home.
You will be involved in numerous projects on both contract administration and project monitoring services instructions. The team provide the full range of building surveying, architectural, project management and principal designer services. These services are offered to both internal and external clients and across both public and private sectors. This entails a diverse range of instruction types across professional services, acquisition surveys, dilapidations, building pathology, principal designer, new build, extension and contract admin projects. You will be involved in project monitoring on behalf of insurers, preparation of bills of quantities, and working within our inhouse multi-disciplined teams.
An ability to manage a workload and make reasoned decisions under pressure is a must. You’ll be required to assist, manage and mentor other junior surveyors and members of the team alongside your own workload.

You will have/will be:
1. MRICS qualified Quantity Surveyor
2. Full UK driving licence essential
3. Extensive knowledge of building construction and relevant legislation and contracts
4. Able to plan projects to ensure robust control of time, cost and quality
5. Experience across the provision of all core Building Surveying Services
6. Experience in schedule preparation and contract administration of building projects
7. Experience in principal designer work advantageous
8. Highly responsible and decisive, but also a team player
9. IT literate, particularly with MS Word and Excel and knowledge of AutoCAD
10. Able to appreciate the importance of delivering and exceeding outstanding client service
11. Composure under pressure, excellent communication skills and empathy are therefore key attributes.
