Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Senior Nurse Hepatology/Alcohol
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner/Senior Nurse for Hepatology/Alcohol works as a key member of the GI Unit, providing care and treatment to patients within a specific area of expertise or to a defined caseload of patients. The nurse practitioner utilises advanced clinical judgment and decision making to manage complex clinical situations, leading the Hepatology/Alcohol CNS and multidisciplinary team, and meeting the four pillars of advanced practice.
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) role has been developed in response to changing healthcare provision, with an emphasis on developing expert clinical skills including advanced assessment and diagnostic skills. The ACP role challenges traditional workforce boundaries; the ANP will frequently undertake tasks and decisions traditionally within the remit of medicine, making the ACP a highly skilled clinical expert nurse working within a defined specialty or clinical area. The post holder will provide clinical leadership, line management, and contribute to the education, development, and supervision of the Hepatology/Alcohol team.
