Pharmacy@UHB Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary company of University Hospitals Birmingham, established in 2011. We currently have a position at the Heartlands Hospital site. This vacancy is 40 hours per week.
We provide a service to outpatients and patients due to be discharged at both QEHB and Heartlands Hospital site, operating in a manner akin to a community pharmacy.
We are currently recruiting for dispensing assistants to join the team to work mainly at the Heartlands site. It is essential that applicants have achieved at least NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services, have relevant community or hospital pharmacy experience in a busy dispensary, and will deliver unrivalled customer service.
This is a unique opportunity to support the delivery of care at the hospital in our automated pharmacies. Newly qualified pre-registration technicians are welcome to apply. We offer an excellent environment within which to develop your clinical skills for a move into a medicines optimisation role within primary or secondary care.
Main Duties of the Job
1. To accurately dispense clinically checked prescriptions against the relevant prescription documentation, referring any areas of doubt promptly to the Responsible Pharmacist.
2. To contribute to the responsibility for the ordering and management of all medicines within Pharmacy@QEHB Ltd, working collaboratively with other dispensing assistants and under the guidance of the pharmacy manager.
3. To identify potential problems in the administration of medicines such as medicine interactions, newly prescribed drugs, and physical factors that could affect patient compliance.
4. To contribute to the development and maintenance of a high-quality and timely outpatient service for patients.
5. To contribute to the safe and accurate issue of completed dispensed prescriptions to patients.
6. To contribute to the maintenance of complete and accurate patient medication records for all supplies from the pharmacy.
7. To work collaboratively with other dispensing assistants to get the most from pharmacy automation.
