Job Description:
A nursery in Cookham is looking for a Qualified Level 2/3 Practitioner. The position will be 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with shifts worked between 07:30 am and 6 pm.
Salaries start from minimum wage for Nursery Practitioners and Room Leaders from £25k. There is room to negotiate for the right candidate based on experience/knowledge.
Offering a joining bonus for full-time positions: all qualified practitioners would receive £1500, unqualified £500 (subject to a successful probation of 6 months).
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care, promoting a feeling of security and satisfaction among parents.
2. Caring for the all-round daily needs of the children to enhance their physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development.
3. Contribute effectively to the team maintaining a high level of communication throughout the nursery.
Main Tasks
Team Contribution
1. Work as an effective part of the Nursery team and maintain good morale, ensuring all Countryside Nursery standards are met.
2. Have a high level of awareness of company policies and procedures and ensure these are followed in daily tasks.
3. Include and encourage student members of staff in their daily activities and development through leading by example.
Child and Parent Care
1. As a Key Carer, ensure parents have full satisfaction through appropriate information and feedback.
2. Communicate with children at their level during play and mealtimes.
3. Settle new starters, ensuring children and parents feel comfortable and safe, keeping parents informed of their child's progress.
4. Maintain and encourage high levels of personal hygiene with the children.
5. Ensure children are tidy, happy, and ready for their parents at the end of their session.
6. Provide parents with daily updates through diary sheets or verbal communication.
7. Respect the wishes of parents to treat any personal information as confidential.
8. Be open and welcoming to all parents and children, directing queries to the Room Leader or Manager/Deputy when required.
Administration and Planning
1. Foster social and educational stimulation through curriculum planning based on age and stages of development.
2. Ensure developmental records for each child are kept up to date and available for parents.
3. Maintain routines within each area of the Nursery.
4. Accurately complete room registers and daily sign-in sheets.
5. Maintain a well-organized filing system ensuring information is easily accessible.
Nursery Communication
1. Attend and actively participate in regular room and staff meetings.
2. Maintain good communication with senior management on everyday occurrences.
3. Follow company procedures for daily communications with parents.
4. Report all maintenance requirements to the manager for immediate attention.
5. Treat all matters concerning children, parents, staff, and business as confidential.
Health and Safety
1. Implement all company health and safety procedures for the well-being of children and staff.
2. Be aware of risk assessments to prevent accidents and act upon recommendations.
3. Maintain high levels of hygiene by cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
4. Ensure toys and equipment are stored safely and correctly.
5. Leave rooms clean and tidy at the end of each day.
6. Notify the manager or deputy when toys and equipment need repairing or replacing.
7. Participate in regular fire drills to ensure awareness of procedures.
8. Record accidents appropriately and relay information to management and parents.
9. Regularly check electrical appliances to ensure they are in good working order.
