Walhampton is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Sailing to lead our comprehensive sailing programme, providing a first-class experience for all students from Pre-Prep through to Year 8. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop and deliver a sailing curriculum that caters to all skill levels, from beginners mastering the basics to advanced sailors aiming for competitive success.
The successful candidate will work alongside teaching staff and specialist coaches to promote sporting excellence and ensure that pupils of all abilities enjoy, benefit from, and remain engaged in sailing throughout their time at Walhampton and beyond.
This position will initially be offered on a zero-hours contract (anticipated at a minimum of 60+ hours across the year; with the possibility of developing into a fuller contract in the near future).
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and manage the sailing curriculum across all year groups (Pre-Prep to Year 8).
* Develop an inclusive sailing programme, nurturing grassroots skills while advancing scholars to higher competitive levels.
* Organise and lead sailing lessons, training sessions, and regattas.
* Ensure the safety and maintenance of all equipment and facilities.
* Collaborate with the Director of Sport and other staff to integrate sailing into the broader sports programme.
* Mentor and support pupils, identifying talent and encouraging competitive progression.
* Organise and manage participation in both internal and external sailing competitions.
* Ensure sailing scholars thrive by providing meaningful experiences and development opportunities.
What We're Looking For:
* RYA instructor qualification.
* Powerboat Level 2 certification.
* Proven experience in sailing instruction and programme management.
* Strong leadership and organisational skills.
* Ability to engage and inspire pupils of different ages and skill levels.
* A commitment to safety and high-quality instruction.
