Driver Hire are working with our client who are a London based Charity to recruit a Minibus driver for a permanent role. Your main starting location will be Nutley, East Sussex where the holiday site is located.
Our client run activity breaks for people with learning disability and autism. They hold 20 activity breaks across the year.
As a minibus driver you will be responsible for collecting the Minibus from East Sussex and driving to the East London base to meet support staff and guests on a Monday. On your drive back towards East Sussex you can expect to stop at places in between for short activity breaks. Midweek you will venture further afield for another day trip. On Friday you will then bring guests and staff back to East London.
You will have assistance from support staff with loading luggage and moving/securing wheelchairs.
We are looking for a candidate who has a flexible approach to working days and hours. The main bulk of work will be completed through 20 weeks of the year, covering Monday, Friday and one day in the middle of the week. Extra days may be added for separate events which may occasionally include weekends.
Responsibilities of working as a Minibus Driver:
1. Maintain vehicle for road worthiness and complete safety checks
2. Provide occasional support during day trips such as supervising guests or assisting support workers
3. Be friendly and open to helping others
4. Follow correct code of conduct
Requirements to work as a Minibus Driver :
5. Full clean driving licence with cat D1
6. Excellent communication skills
7. Creativity and flexibility, with experience of dealing with the unexpected
8. Desirable – Experience supporting people with a learning disability, autism, and complex needs (including behaviours of concern)
9. Enhanced DBS check – to be arranged after interview
