Job Title: Specification Designer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specification Designer to join the Design Department team based in Swindon. The role requires a candidate with a high degree of manual dexterity, technical acumen, and an eye for detail, as they will be responsible for advising, specifying, and carrying out detailed and accurate heat loss calculations for Grant Engineering customers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Calculate heat loss for domestic and small commercial properties.
2. Design Underfloor Heating (UFH) packages and produce detailed schematics.
3. Take ownership of heat loss and UFH requests, making direct contact with customers to obtain specific requirements.
4. Adopt a technical sales approach when dealing with customers, discussing options for associated Grant products to maximize opportunities.
5. Ensure UFH design information is accurate and reflects customer requests and instructions from the Area Sales Manager.
6. Communicate scope of work for underfloor projects with the external sales team.
7. Carry out any necessary amendments correctly.
8. Report all results accurately to the Administration team for quoting purposes.
9. Ensure drawings and line drawings reflect the design and customer requirements.
10. Respond to telephone and email inquiries directed to the Design Specification Department.
11. Assist on-site visitors seeking information about our products.
Skills and Knowledge:
1. Excellent attention to detail.
2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
3. Capability to produce results to a high standard within set timeframes.
4. Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
5. Proficiency in computer use and Microsoft Office.
6. Experience with CAD software.
7. Knowledge of renewable heating projects, e.g., heat pumps.
8. Understanding of domestic heating design and components.
Thorough training will be provided to ensure a comprehensive understanding of Grant products and the factors affecting their performance.
