Job overview
Applications are invited for an enthusiastic individual to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
This is a 6-month part-time post. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the provision of general services in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the population within the catchment area of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital with outpatients and elective surgery based at Wycombe Hospital, working 50% of the standard on calls in a 13-week rota template.
Main duties of the job
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will provide care in specialist outpatient and inpatient services as appropriate in addition to general obstetrics and gynaecology. This post also offers the opportunity to develop clinical and managerial skills.
Clinical Responsibilities
* Appropriate clinical responsibility for the care of patients delegated by the consultant to his/her charge. Co-responsibility for the proper functioning of the department, including supervision of more junior medical staff.
* Assisting the Registrar in the running of the labour ward with consultant cover on site during the day, consultant off site after hours.
* Clinical duties may be at Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville hospital sites, with on-call at Stoke Mandeville.
* Participation in clinical audit.
* Attendance at clinical meetings and case conferences as appropriate.
* Working within the multidisciplinary team.
* Co-ordinating appropriate medical, surgical and allied disciplines concerned with patient care and communicating appropriately with general practitioners and community agencies.
* Clinic duties such as gynaecology and ante-natal clinics, as well as some specialist clinics at the appropriate level.
