We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to fill this vacant post within the busy department of Haematology Department (Adult Haemostasis and Thrombosis subspecialty) at St Jamess University Hospital.
The Leeds Comprehensive Care Haemophilia Centre for adults is based in the department and is part of the NW Yorkshire Haemophilia network. The H& T team is a key contributor to a multidisciplinary VTE service and provides leadership for the Leeds Anticoagulant Service. There is a proactive combined Haematology Obstetric clinic that is a hub centre in a maternal medicine network. Candidates with broad interests in Haemostasis and Thrombosis are welcome, and it is expected that the successful candidate will participate in both the bleeding disorders and the Thrombosis service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to participate in the out of hours on call rota for the Northwest Yorkshire Haemophilia Network and provide out of hours specialist advisory thrombosis advice for the Trust while contributing to the continuing service development in the Leeds Comprehensive Care Haemophilia centre. There will be three outpatient clinics per week, together with MDT, ward rounds, and ward attending.
The appointee will be based principally at St Jamess University Hospital with responsibilities as a member of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Clinical and Laboratory Haematology Consultant team providing an integrated pan-Leeds service.
Applicants should have established skills in Haemostasis and Thrombosis and should have demonstrated a subspecialty interest in the area. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is essential, and a research interest is desirable.

It is the hub of the Northwest Yorkshire Haemophilia network and a comprehensive care centre. It is staffed by a dedicated team of consultants, registrars, specialty doctors along with nurse specialists, physiotherapists, psychologists, pharmacists, and laboratory and administrative support.

Job description
This appointment is for a Locum Consultant Haematologist with an interest in Haemostasis and Thrombosis. This is a 10 PA consultant post and will be one of four consultants in the Haemostasis and Thrombosis team. The post is a temporary replacement post to sustain the clinical Haemostasis and Thrombosis service in Leeds Teaching Hospitals, which has undergone considerable development and expansion in recent years.
The postholder will contribute to the provision of 24/7 Haemophilia cover across the Northwest Yorkshire Haemophilia network and contribute to the continuing service development in the Leeds Comprehensive Care Haemophilia centre.
The duties of the post will be wholly in the Haemostasis and Thrombosis subspecialty service, including a 24/7 advisory network on call service with 5 other colleagues for heritable bleeding disorders alongside the haematology on call consultants in Leeds, Bradford, and York. There is no general Haematology on call commitment.

* Hold full and specialist GMC Registration with a license to practice.

* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology.
* Specifically, must demonstrate higher experience and training in Haemostasis and Thrombosis.
Qualifications

* MB BS or equivalent.
* MRCP or equivalent.
* FRCPath or equivalent.
* Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview.
Desirable
* Relevant higher degree.

* Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
* Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
* Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.

* Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
