Role: Crime Support Clerk
District: Rotherham
Location: Main Street, Rotherham
Salary: £24,222 - £26,106 (pro rata)
Hours: 21
Contract Type: Temporary for 12 months
We have an exciting opportunity for a Crime Support Clerk to work within our CID Administration Unit based at Main Street, Rotherham on a temporary basis for 12 months.
As a Crime Support Clerk, you will evaluate and redact information, sometimes of a sensitive nature, so attention to detail is important for this role as you will be updating computer records, checking data, and amending information.
To be eligible to apply, it is essential that you are competent in the use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, email and the internet as you will be inputting data on different software packages.
Key Responsibilities
* Interrogate and/or retrieve data from various South Yorkshire Police computer systems including CONNECT, SMART Contact, and PNC
* Liaise with Criminal Justice Unit and other offices within South Yorkshire Police
* Comply with Data Protection Act when releasing information to outside agencies.
* Complete Criminal Injuries compensation claims for victims of crime from information provided by police officers.
* Peruse/decipher court results to update systems, as necessary.
* Handle files containing sensitive, distressing, and explicit papers received i.e., rapes, murders, and child abuse cases.
* Adhere to Force policy when dealing with currency that is potentially counterfeit.
Skills And Experience
* Previous administrative and computer experience.
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, Email and the internet.
* Experience of dealing with confidential information.
* Ability to work on own initiative.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
