Wise Employment are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor for a well-established construction firm in the South West. Wise Employment are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our clients team who has a keen interest to advance their skills or may already be qualified and experienced to join our small team who undertake number of projects on a continual basis from conception to completion. This requires a dedicated, reliable, positive, hands-on approach, toward the tasks and hours of work, demonstrating excellent attention to detail, where you take responsibility for specific tasks, with flexibility to meet often tight timescales, demonstrating patience and tenacity, to meet client and business requirements, on time and within budget, amending projects as needs arise, sometimes at short notice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. You will ensure that projects are completed within budget and that the quality of work meets the required standards. Your expertise in cost control will be essential in delivering successful outcomes for our clients. Appling excellent problem-solving skills, working under pressure, seeking solutions, and following work through to completion and resolving issues as they arise or seeking alternatives individually or as a team. Duties will include Compile estimate tender documents to meet legal and quality requirements from conception to completion and co-ordinate their responses and returns. Prepare work schedules and programmes for each project to meet timescales, monitor expenses, identify potential savings, monitor ongoing expenses, and produce regular progress reports. Understand costing, cost planning, procurement, tendering, contract administration and overall commercial management process for projects. Prepare take offs (drawings) and produce bill of quantities. Support the procurement and continuous monitoring of plant, subcontractors and materials to minimise waste, for each of the projects. Support Sub-contractor procurement and management, including compilation and issue of sub-contractor procurement packages. Undertake cost and value analysis and reconciliations, provide feedback to the Management Team, highlighting any discrepancies. Prepare and manage contract documents, ensuring all contractual timescales and costs are managed and adhered to on at least a daily/weekly basis. Subcontractor analysis and tender reporting. Manage variations, prepare valuations and final accounts. Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks. Perform risk, value management and cost control exercises, to ensure that the projects are kept in line with budget. Update and coordinate material schedules, in line with the requirements from the Site Mangers for each of the projects. for this role you will be required to have the following skills/knowledge A degree in BSc Quantity Surveying is desirable by not essential. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry is preferred. Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials. Excellent analytical skills, numeracy and financial management skills with a keen eye for detail. Proficiency in cost control techniques and software applications relevant to quantity surveying. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Some visits to site may be required, where a driving licence would be an advantage.
