JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer is to ensure full compliance with Quality, Environmental and Machinery safety legislation. The position will be based in the Blackburn head office with some travel across manufacturing & customer sites and sister company Proline Engineering Limited, required to fulfil this role. The Quality Engineer will support Sales / Commercial functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Non-Conformance / Corrective Actions
1. Lead root cause investigation, working with relevant subject matter experts as needed, and monitor the progress on problem-solving activities.
2. Investigate and monitor customer complaints.
3. Inform suppliers of non-conformance and take appropriate action.
Management System / Auditing
1. Support management system audits and production process audits, including planning, preparation, execution, reporting results, and remedial work plans.
2. Ensure compliance to internal and external management systems.
3. Support audit processes at suppliers.
4. Review and update management system documentation.
Miscellaneous
1. Implement and maintain relevant processes, work instructions.
2. Work with technical drawings and specifications.
3. Support calibration activities within the business.
4. Contribute to Quality Improvement Plans internally and with suppliers.
5. Use QA tools to assess and improve product quality and reduce costs.
6. Collaborate and communicate daily with peers and other departments at all levels, and be able to present your ideas clearly and negotiate in a balanced but effective manner.
7. Monitor quality KPIs.
8. Support pre-delivery inspection activities.
9. Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
10. Ensure health and safety standards are met.
11. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
1. Experience of working in industrial or manufacturing environments.
2. IT skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
3. Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
4. Determined and proactive approach.
5. Good analytical skills.
6. Great attention to detail and can interpret/read detailed drawings.
7. Team player who is able to consistently deliver to agreed deadlines.
8. Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001.
Desirable:
1. Knowledge and understanding of ISO 14001 and 45001.
2. Experience using SAP or similar ERP.
3. BTEC, HNC, HND, BSc or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
