Job summary
Korus Health supports the work of the NHS by providing ultrasound scans to patients within their local community. The role of clinical assistant forms part of a clinical team working to give patients a safe and positive experience at their ultrasound appointment.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone committed to providing excellent care to patients and through supporting the sonographer with ultrasound scans. You will help to make the patients feel at ease from the word go and work with the sonographer to ensure that all the relevant protocols including safeguarding and infection control are followed. You will also carry out IT tasks needed within the clinics.

Job responsibilities
1. Work with the sonographer to set up the necessary equipment for clinics in the community.
2. Prepare for each day by ensuring the clinic room and clinic list is ready before the first appointment.
3. Take responsibility for leaving the clinic room in a clean and tidy condition at the end of each day including general housekeeping.
4. Be willing to be accountable for personally following information governance and confidentiality procedures.
5. Be willing to undertake training as necessary to fulfil the role including basic knowledge of medical terms associated with the role.
6. Full driving license and access to the use of a car for work travel.
7. Have good IT skills in order to accurately register clinics and input data.
8. Have the appropriate interpersonal skills necessary to welcome patients to the clinic by greeting them warmly and making them feel comfortable.
9. Have an understanding of equality and diversity and promote this within all company interactions.
10. Be prepared to respond to the needs of the patient by reading the notes before their appointment as well as alerting the sonographer to any specific needs.
11. Act as an advocate for the patient providing dignity and respect throughout all procedures.
12. Record accurate measurements of the sonographer's findings.
13. Inspect the supply of clinical equipment to ensure that they are in good condition and immediately report any defects to the operations manager.
14. Ensure that the ultrasound machine including the probes and leads, the keyboard, screen and stand are cleaned using the appropriate materials.
15. Methodically follow the infection control procedures to prevent contamination of all equipment and also the clinic room.
16. Generally work as a member of the clinic team supporting the sonographer to achieve a good level of communication with the patient to support an accurate diagnosis.
17. Support the sonographer to ensure that clinics run smoothly and all necessary tasks including IT are completed by the end of each clinic.
18. Demonstrate active listening skills to support the sonographer's reporting.
19. Support the sonographer by keeping track of time to ensure that clinics run to schedule.
20. Demonstrate confident communication skills to support positive team communication with the sonographer and other colleagues.
21. Build a good working relationship with partners in our community clinics.
22. Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal guidance and take initiative to solve problems that may prevent the successful running of clinics.
