Job summary Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking Occupational therapist with excellent clinical skills to join our Integrated Community Stroke and Neuro Rehabilitation team. You will manage a complex caseload including patients with Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Motor Neurone Disease and Traumatic Brain Injury.The job requires that you work collaboratively as part of a multi-professional team with other AHP, nursing and psychology colleagues to assess and deliver rehabilitation in the most appropriate environment for patients. You will need to be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge relevant to the post and provide evidence of post graduate training and an understanding of the appropriate national guidelines. You will have an opportunity to rotate between the neuro-rehabilitation service and the integrated stroke rehabilitation service. You will need highly effective communication skills to manage frequent contact with patients or carers who are either under stress or distressed. You will need to liaise with colleagues in acute services, GPs and specialist nurses and colleagues in social services to ensure seamless patient care.You must be able to manage your own time effectively and be competent to line manage and supervise junior staff, rehabilitation assistants and students. Basic IT skills are also required. Full UK driving license and access to a car essential. Main duties of the job Assess and treat own caseload of patients in a variety of settings including patients' homes and clinics who need specialist neurological intervention To act as an autonomous practitioner and source of expertise in these areas for junior staff, rehabilitation assistants, colleagues in the integrated community rehab services and other health and social care professionals in acute and community settings Referral management and triage To undertake training including audit and evaluation in conjunction with the GMNISDN. To contribute to team in-service training and identify personal training needs through supervision and appraisal.
