The Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist works as part of the multi-professional team, ensuring that patients with Skin Cancer Diagnosis receive the highest standard of care and support from the time of diagnosis onward.
You will become a core member within the multidisciplinary care team (MDT) and through demonstration of higher-level skills. Working collaboratively with clinicians and service managers to promote, develop, review, and redesign services which are responsive and relevant to patients' needs.
Providing support for patients with treatment plans for Skin Cancer such as undergoing plastic surgery and systemic treatments. They also link with the other specialties involved in the patient pathway. The CNS will support, educate, and develop ward nurses in the management of skin cancers.
* The Advanced/Lead Skin Cancer CNS is a key worker role and an autonomous practitioner and has the freedom to act to influence patient care and service provision. They will exercise levels of judgement, discretion and decision-making in specialist palliative care. Independent nurse prescribing responsibilities support this practice.
* The post holder will contribute to the continued development of the specialist service with the Lead Clinicians, Lead Cancer Nurse and associate stakeholders in the safe delivery of care to the specific patient group. Promoting best practice proactively and delivering coordinated quality cancer care to patients and their families. To participate in education and training.
* To work across organisations and professional boundaries to promote cancer care to ensure an integrated approach to care management between localities, organisations and care agencies.
