Hours: 35 per week - Open to job share (21-14 hours would be available)
Salary: £22,781 per annum
Driving: Full UK Driving Licence required and access to a vehicle. Mileage expenses paid

The British Red Cross are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Oncology Transport Service team as a Service Coordinator. This exciting position is for someone who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and is able to lead and motivate people.
Somerset’s Oncology Transport Service provides vital transport to people who are living with cancer. You'll be helping them to attend appointments for chemo and radiotherapy treatment, by coordinating the team of volunteers who provide their transport. Working as part of a small and fast-paced team, you will play a crucial role in understanding people’s transport needs and helping to fulfil them. As scheduling transport for patients you will also serve as a key point of contact for the volunteers, recruiting and inducting them into the service, and providing day-to-day operational support to help ensure the service runs smoothly and passengers are provided with high-quality support.
This role is unique in that it supports an oncology transport service which is delivered solely by volunteers.
A day in the life of a Service Coordinator:
* You will manage a small team of staff and volunteers ensuring the people who need us receive the best possible service.
* You will spend approximately 70% of your working time in our office in Taunton working alongside the small staff team and assisting the volunteers.
* You will liaise with partnership agencies and stakeholders to promote the service and build meaningful relationships.
* You will produce and maintain monthly reports.
* You will be involved in the recruitment of new volunteers.
To be a successful Service Coordinator you'll need:
* Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience)
* Experience of working with and supporting volunteers
* Volunteer management
* IT literate
* Understanding of how to improve service quality for the benefit of users
* Willingness to work flexible hours
* Ability to deal with queries in a diplomatic, professional and confidential manner

* Strong leadership skills and an ability to get the best out of people
* Knowledge of Health and Social Care services
* A manual UK driving licence, held for a minimum of two years, and access to a vehicle (mileage will be paid for use of own vehicle).
