Originally opened in 76 as a joint venture between Michael Caine, Peter Langan and Michelin starred chef Richard Shepherd, Langans Brasserie immediately became an icon of the London scene attracting guests from Elizabeth Taylor, Elton John, Princess Margaret to Mick Jagger- becoming one of the most talked about venues in London. In October 21 Langans was reborn with a mission to bring all the elegance, eccentricity, and furore of the original brasserie. Alongside the iconic Brasserie and bar, there is a private dining room whilst Upstairs is a private club with terrace. As an assistant head Sommelier, you will play an integral part in the restaurants operation.
Candidate profile:
* Good knowledge of world wines, with a strong affinity for French wines
* ~3 years experience on the London scene or similar market with WSET or equivalent sommelier qualifications.
* Cigar knowledge and training is a plus.
* Confident, professional with integrity and an enhanced hospitality towards guests and colleagues.
* Resilient under pressure
Responsibilities
* Assist the head of wines Yan Prigent in managing the wine program and enhance it.
* Develop training and coaching in close association with Yann to develop the team and drive both sales and excellent service.
* Recommend and match wines for our guests.
* Support the team as a whole in creating memorable experience.
* Ideally knowledge of Tevalis and notion of stock taking and reconciliating stock, invoices.
