About the Team
Warwickshire’s new SEND and Inclusion Strategy sets out our collective ambition to improve life opportunities and outcomes for children and young people with SEND, by supporting a strong early start, quality education and a positive transition into adulthood.
It is the aim and the vision of Warwickshire County Council that all schools are places where everyone feels valued, included, safe, supported and welcome. We will work together to enable all our children and young people in Warwickshire to lead a fulfilling life and be part of their community.
The ‘Warwickshire School's Inclusion Charter’ sets out what all children and young people and their families should expect from schools in Warwickshire, in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
Meeting the requirements of the Children and Families Act 2014, the strategy is ambitious, inclusive, and realistic in the challenging financial context seen nationally amongst local authorities and the NHS.
Through our ongoing commitment to be a Child-Friendly County, we have prioritised resources to address growing demands across the EHC Needs Assessment and EHCP Review processes, to enable timely action and decision-making, which in turn impacts on positive outcomes for our children and young people and their families.
We are therefore looking for ambitious, dedicated and solution-focused practitioners to join our hard-working and collaborative SENDAR (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Assessment and Review) team. As a local authority, we can offer you:
* an Agile Working policy,
* a generous Annual Leave entitlement,
* car lease and cycle to work schemes,
* a range of additional staff benefits.
In addition, SENDAR will also provide supportive supervision, dedicated business support and a robust induction.
About the role
You will join our team of EHC Plan Coordinators and manage an allocation of children and young people either across the assessment process or Annual Reviews. You will report to one of the Area Leads and be part of a smaller team within SENDAR.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Writing / amending EHC Plans to the highest quality, considering the information received from professionals and ensuring the child / young person’s views and aspirations are clear throughout.
* Meeting statutory deadlines as set out in the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.
* Supporting appropriate funding and placement outcomes by preparing and collating information from a variety of sources to inform decisions.
* Communicating effectively with families, young people and professionals to ensure positive, timely outcomes for children and young people across Warwickshire.
Key requirements
You will have experience in a Local Authority team or direct experience supporting SEND in an educational setting, health or social care role. You will be an excellent communicator, adapting your communication style to ensure clarity and instilling trust and confidence in our support to families, carers and young people in Warwickshire. You will be skilled in managing a number of conflicting priorities that may provide professional challenge and making informed decisions that promote best outcomes from available resources.
