Who You Are A qualified social worker with a CQSW or Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work and substantial post-qualifying experience in children's and families' social care work, including at management level. You are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and have a clear enhanced DBS check. Experienced in managing and supervising social work staff, you demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development. You have the ability to manage and prioritize complex workloads, work under pressure, and balance organizational and service-led demands. You are confident in working constructively with senior managers and have a thorough understanding of the legal framework related to Looked After Children (LAC) and care leavers. Additionally, you possess excellent presentation skills and are committed to delivering better outcomes for children with knowledge of national initiatives. What the Job Involves The role involves chairing statutory looked after review meetings to meet all statutory requirements and complete each child's review process within statutory timescales. You will promote full and active participation of children, young people, and their birth families in review meetings, ensuring their views are listened to and considered. You will work with social work teams to ensure care plans are up-to-date, effective, and responsive to each child's needs. Addressing concerns about potential drift or practice issues is also part of your role, utilizing the IRO Problem Resolution Protocol if necessary, and monitoring cases to prevent delays in securing permanency for the child. You will provide expert advice and professional training on care planning and Looked After review issues, ensuring best practices across services within Westminster. Moreover, you will monitor the quality of services for Looked After children and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and departmental policies. Specializing in Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children, you will contribute to their learning and development. Supporting the Service Manager in leadership roles, you will assist in developing policies and training programs to ensure the Independent Reviewing Officer service adapts to change and delivers good outcomes.
