Are you passionate about great care and advancing your career? An opportunity has arisen for the role of an Advanced Practitioner at The Priory Hospital Middleton St George, initially to cover a period of maternity leave for 12 months but with the possibility of a permanent position (although this cannot be guaranteed). The role provides a great opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to advance his/her career in developing further clinical skills in both mental and physical health as well as prescribing medication, while working with a highly motivated and dynamic team of Consultant Psychiatrists, Advanced Practitioners, and other multidisciplinary team members. There is opportunity and expectation to join a weekly medical meeting/teaching and participate in quality improvement and clinical governance activities. There is also a potential opportunity to enrol in Advanced Skill Course training for further development.
The Role of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner includes but is not limited to:
1. Assessment of admissions and contribution to care planning
2. Deliver physical health care, conduct relevant investigations and treatments and respond to emergencies
3. Prescribe medication within their competencies
4. On call cover and cross cover of other APs
5. Good record keeping including preparation of reports (discharge summaries, CPA reports, referrals)
6. Daily emergency medical rota, seclusion and enhanced care reviews
7. Prioritise preventative healthcare to improve outcome
8. Participate in quality improvement activities including teaching
The successful candidate should have the following attributes:
1. Registered Mental Health Nurse Qualification (RMN) with a Valid NMC PIN
2. Nurse prescriber, or working toward achieving this
3. Experience in physical health or general nursing would be an advantage
4. To be a team player and responsive to service needs
5. To be self-aware, seeking support and advice when required
6. Good listening and rapport building ability
7. To be able to organise and prioritise own time
The post-holder will participate in first on-call medical rota of 1 in 6. There is a consultant on-call for support.

Our multi-disciplinary teams provide care for up to 107 male and female service users, working collaboratively with their commissioners, across our 8 wards. We deliver acute and recovery and rehabilitation environment which includes a specialist female Personality Disorder service. Our focus is on the delivery of excellent care, empowering service users to progress towards the least restrictive setting and towards independence. Our vision is to place our Service Users at the heart of our service provision, working closely with them and their carers to support their recovery and rehabilitation.
