The Greendale Group is looking to appoint a Finance Assistant to join our team based in Exeter. The Greendale Group is a successful family company which boasts a diverse range of businesses including the Greendale Business Park (close to Exeter and the M5), Greendale Farm Shop, a large working farm, a fishing business (Waterdance Limited), Exmouth Marina, as well as a number of other investments in both commercial and residential property across the South West. With rapid growth and an expected turnover in 2024 of circa £70m, it is an exciting time to join such a diverse business.
The Finance Assistant will support the Financial Controller in the day-to-day management of two key subsidiaries: Greendale Leisure and Willowglen Renewables Ltd to ensure all financial tasks are completed in order to achieve monthly accounts within the required deadlines. This is a varied transactional finance position covering the purchase ledger, supplier liaison and bank reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the accounts payable and receivable functions, including preparation of payment runs.
2. Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software NetSuite.
3. Support month-end closing activities by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
4. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
5. Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial transactions and accounts.
6. Assist in debt collection and manage customer invoicing.
7. Ensure financial records comply with regulatory standards and internal controls.
8. Support external and internal audits by providing required documentation and information.
9. Provide administrative support to the finance department as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in a similar role and knowledge of financial processes.
2. Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles.
3. Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
4. Proficiency in accounting software (ideally NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
5. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Working towards or completed AAT qualification or QBE (qualified by experience)
