The Adult and Specialist Rehabilitation Division of BCHC is looking to recruit a Trainee Rehabilitation Engineer (Clinical Technologist). The successful applicant will undertake the IPEM Clinical Technologist Training Scheme with the intention of meeting the requirements of the Register of Clinical Technologists or the Academy of Healthcare Science Register.
The position we are recruiting to is that of a Trainee Rehabilitation Engineer based across Worcestershire and Herefordshire Wheelchair Services. You will already have suitable qualifications such as a mechanical or medical engineering degree or alternative qualifications with relevant experience to be eligible to join the IPEM Clinical Technologist Training Scheme.
Main duties of the job
We require a trainee Rehabilitation Engineer (healthcare science practitioner / clinical technologist) to undergo a formal training programme to become a qualified member of our Rehabilitation Engineering team to support our future staff needs.
The position is patient-facing and very hands-on with respect to using hand tools to adjust and fit equipment. You will be required to build a portfolio of evidence throughout the 2-year scheme which, together with observed practice, will be assessed by IPEM Moderators.
The Rehabilitation Engineer Service is based in Selly Oak, Birmingham; however, the training placement is primarily based at Worcestershire and Herefordshire Wheelchair Services currently based at Crown Lane, Wychbold, WR9 0BX and Ruckhall Lane, Belmont, Hereford HR2 9RP respectively. However, some placements and learning opportunities will be based at other locations, generally within the West Midlands. The aim of this post is to grow the clinical capacity at these Wheelchair Services.
Upon successful completion of the Training Scheme, you will be eligible to join the Register for Clinical Technologists, allowing you to apply for qualified Rehabilitation Engineer positions within our service.
As part of a Rehabilitation Engineering Team of over 25 staff, you will participate in an active CPD and Clinical Supervision programme.
