We are searching for a 30 hours per week Registered Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join us on Beech Ward based in Torquay, Torbay Hospital. Beech ward is a 16 bedded inpatient Mental Health Ward that supports primarily older adults with functional mental health difficulties.
We warmly welcome Band 5 applicants who have a desire to lead an Occupational Therapy service on Beech Ward. The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Inpatient Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities include:
* Assessing and treating a specialist caseload of clients within the ward.
* Act as clinical OT within Beech Ward, ensuring effective planning and delivery of the service and manage a small team.
* Ensure supervision of OT staff within Beech to maintain a high standard.
* Contribute to the development of high quality occupational therapy service through professional clinical governance frameworks including audit.
* Provide professional advice and expertise to the Beech multi-disciplinary team.
* Report to Beech Ward Manager and OT Manager any OT and or professional issues and any operational issues.

Qualifications
* Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* Further training, short specialist courses to Masters equivalent level.
Knowledge
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Sound knowledge of current OT theory and practice.
* Knowledge of the implications of the national modernisation agenda in relation to the profession and mental health service.
