The company specializes in sourcing premium prawns and whitefish products globally, distributing from its warehouse and production facility in Grimsby. Their manufacturing plant produces a range of bite-sized party foods and canapes for retail customers. They are a major player in Europe in shellfish sales and marketing, sourcing from Asia, Iceland, Newfoundland, Canada, and North Atlantic waters. The product range includes shell-on prawns, cooked and peeled prawns, Atlantic cod, and haddock. As Management Accountant/Finance Manager, you will oversee a team of four, managing daily finance operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will act as a business partner across various functions to control costs, manage budgets, and support strategic goals. Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the finance team’s daily activities, including overseeing transactions
* Preparing monthly management accounts
* Maintaining Bill of Materials (BoM) setup and accuracy on Sage 200
* Collaborating with procurement, production, and logistics to verify buying prices and costs
* Setting and checking standard costs for all products
* Working with sales to ensure accurate product costing for quotes and new product development (NPD)
* Investigating and reporting variances in costs and operational efficiencies
* Driving cost savings and profitability improvements through insights
* Participating in Sage 200 updates and new modules for better control and insight
* Ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, including HMRC
* Managing year-end and bank audits with auditors
* Supporting the personal development of the finance team
* Performing other duties as required
Qualifications and experience required:
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA); qualified by experience may also be considered
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in finance, ideally within food manufacturing
* Willingness to learn and grow with the business
* Ability to meet deadlines with strong attention to detail
* Excellent Excel skills
* Strong systems knowledge; Sage Line 200 is desirable
* Positive, self-motivated, and enthusiastic attitude
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong planning and prioritization skills to meet reporting deadlines
* Valid driving license
Working hours are from 9am to 5pm (35 hours/week), with flexibility available.
