Interim Senior Lawyer - Adult Social Care

Pay Rate: £30.00 per hour PAYE
Working Hours: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Assignment Duration: This opening assignment is for 3-4 months

The purpose of the role is to provide specialist legal advice, and put into legal effect the instructions of the Council in such a way as to provide the Council with an excellent and continuously improving legal service to enable it to fulfil its overarching vision.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Undertake a caseload of Adult Social care matters.
2. Provide detailed and accurate advice on the Council’s responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Mental Health Act 1983.
3. Submit applications to the Court of Protection and High Court.
4. Attend court, negotiate, and conduct your own advocacy.
Key Requirements:
1. Be a qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with up-to-date practicing certificate.
2. Extensive knowledge of law, legislation and application relevant to area of specialism.
3. Experience of managing at a senior level in a large, complex organisation in line with the areas of functional responsibility.
4. Experience of Adult Social Care law.
5. Significant experience of handling and prioritising a personal caseload of legal matters/cases with excellent knowledge in this area of law.
6. Be an excellent negotiator, with first-rate communication skills.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to communicate effectively up to senior levels across the business using all mediums.
8. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to guide, motivate and develop your team.
9. Ability to constructively challenge staff on legal and performance matters.
