Job summary We are offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the multi disciplinary team providing occupational therapy intervention to patients on a 19 bedded later life ward, both functional and organic mental health presentations. This can include Bipolar, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, dementia. This is a fixed term 12 month post. You will be screening service users and providing bespoke interventions to enhance their care, and facilitate safe discharge into the community. You will be overseeing the supervision and provision of activities provided by activity workers as well as linking with the wider AHP team across the unit. You will be tasked with enhancing patient experience, creatively utilising therapeutic spaces and resources at your disposal. It is an exciting time to work within NSFT following the completion of a leadership restructure that includes the introduction of more robust leadership oversight within AHP. Main duties of the job Work alongside the Clinical Team Leader to deliver Occupational Therapy across the Service, prioritising clinical needs to provide an effective service. Promote amongst the multi-disciplinary team the best evidence based practice in OccupationalTherapy and mental health services. Plan and implement client centred individual and/or group interventions, evaluating treatment in order to measure progress and ensure clinical effectiveness. Ensure that the multi-disciplinary practice is set in the context of the relevant disciplines codes of conduct and the supplementary guidance and is undertaken in accordance with the principles of CPA. Assess the occupational needs of a defined ward based client group and establish and evaluate appropriate treatment programmes as part of the multi-disciplinary team. Ensure that clinical practice is based on a comprehensive assessment of risk factors, clinical need and environmental issues.Support staff and participate in the process of leave and escorting patients in activities inaccordance with the MHA 1983. In consultation with the Clinical Team Leader, lead and support staff in the clinical area toundertake specialist projects, research and clinical studies that are appropriate to their sphere of practice.
