An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced band 5 nurse to work with the Cardiac Surgery Research Team to deliver a new study funded by Kidney Research UK.
Main duties of the job
* Manage a detailed scheduling pathway for patient sampling.
* Complete trial activities according to the study protocol and ensure the collection of high-quality data and samples.
* Complete the consent process and record detailed data for the study.
* Support to deliver other cardiac surgery studies with senior research nurses.

Qualifications and training
* Registered General Nurse (RGN)
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
Knowledge and experience
* Broad knowledge and experience of clinical practice within a high care hospital environment within the speciality of cardiovascular disease
* Interest in clinical research
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and willingness to develop computer skills further
* Knowledge of Data Protection Act 1984 and Caldicott principles
* Good understanding of the use of medical terminology

* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and use own initiative
* Evidence of good management and organisational skills
* Demonstrated ability to manage resources effectively
* Good report writing, a focus on accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
* Ability to prioritise to ensure effective and efficient workload completion
* Experienced in central line/arterial line management and assessed and signed off to give intravenous medication
* Venupuncture or willingness to undertake training
* Personal insight and awareness with the ability to recognise own limits
* Ability to work flexibly according to role need
* Enthusiasm for and desire to embed research within clinical practice
