HSE Manager
Salary: £55,000-£65,000
Location: East Yorkshire
Role Overview:
The HSE Manager will be responsible for assessing the current company operations and developing a long-term strategy to elevate the site operations to world-class standards. You will work closely with the senior leadership team to align HSE considerations with overall site objectives, demonstrating strong leadership and a passion for your work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Create, develop, and implement the HSE strategy across the site.
2. Drive cultural change, bringing HSE and Compliance to the forefront of company operations.
3. Support the development and delivery of training programmes.
4. Coach and mentor team members.
5. Develop and monitor accreditations – specifically OHSAS18001, ISO14001, and ISO 50001.
6. Review existing risk assessments and COSHH assessments, updating them against current legislation or improved practices.
7. Conduct assessments on new products and processes, considering how risks can be reduced.
8. Own the site safety policies and procedures, advising on improvements as required.
9. Embrace and support the Net Zero targets, implementing appropriate action plans.
10. Be fully involved with all H&S and environmental aspects related to Customer and Supplier audits.
11. Advise on all other aspects of H&S including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, and occupational health.
12. Manage the relationship with external bodies regarding environmental issues.
13. Manage the permit to work system, ensuring the safety of contractors working on site in accordance with method statements and risk assessments.
The Ideal Candidate:
1. NEBOSH Qualification; NEBOSH Environmental is desired but not essential.
2. Proven experience at a senior level leading and setting strategy for both safety and environmental concerns.
3. Experience in supporting culture development initiatives in relation to safety and a passion for your work.
4. Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels to drive initiatives.
5. Strong experience in risk assessments, site inspections, report writing, and contractor management.
6. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, ideally with an engineering bias (not essential).
