Actual Salary £25,000 - £27,500 per annum, Full-time Salary £50,000 - £55,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications
Permanent – Part Time – 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
About the role
Colchester Institute is seeking to recruit a Head of Governance. The successful appointee will be a Senior Postholder, who can act as an independent advisor to the Corporation, but also work with the Principal and College Executive Team to ensure the timeliness and quality of information shared with the board.
The Head of Governance needs to be able to demonstrate a high level of strategic understanding and strong independent judgement to ensure good governance of this £40m business, which provides education and training opportunities to around 8,000 young people and adults every year.
The Corporation exercises its business through a number of sub-committees:
1. Finance and Resources
2. Audit and Risk Committee
3. Curriculum and Quality Committee
4. Governance, Remuneration and Search Committee

About you
You will have high levels of integrity, be organised, and accurate and have the ability to read, implement and advise on statutory guidance and regulatory documents. You will also have excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrable administrative and interpersonal skills. You will need to work flexibly to support the annual timetable of meetings, meaning that working hours might vary from week-to-week. Meetings are largely held on campus, usually commencing after 4pm.
