We are pleased to be able to offer the opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual with excellent communication skills to apply for the role of Band 3 Health care support worker on Kestrel Ward at the North Wales Adolescent Service in Abergele.
Working in an inpatient CAMHS setting with young people between the age of 11-17 years old, you will need to have a flexible approach and be able to adapt your skills and abilities to suit a range of needs and presentations.
As well as contributing to the day to day routine and support for young people on the ward you will have the opportunity to work with young people outside of the unit, supporting their re-integration into the community.
Kestrel ward provides a 24/7 service and you will need to be flexible to meet the range of shift patterns required, including night shifts.
You will require the ability to work autonomously, under the direction of the nursing team. Duties will include escorting patients on trips out/appointments/home leave etc.
Main duties of the job
To provide day to day care for patients under the supervision of a registered nurse which meets the requirements of 'best practice', following existing guidelines, achieving the prescribed standards and contributing towards client comfort and overall wellbeing. Working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Although you will act at all times as directed by the nurse in charge, you will be competent to work without direct supervision, sometimes in isolation, within a framework that has been agreed by the Service Manager/Ward Manager.
