Warehouse & Logistics Supervisor required for a family-run business in Chelmsford who are a well-known business in their industry This company are full of friendly staff (some of which have been there for 30 years’), with good communication and relationships from top to bottom. The role of Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor holds responsibility for the efficient, safe and hygienic storage and movement of stock in the Warehouse and Yard and is accountable for the team providing quality customer service to both internal teams and customers. - Ensure picking and loading of products is completed and accurately recorded onto the designated computer system. - Supervise safe loading, unloading of lorries in accordance with relevant transport standards. - Responsible for efficient goods-in management, including recording pallets and returned goods. - Ensure that all vehicles are checked and cleaned on return to site. - Comply with all company Health and Safety rules; carries out regular racking inspections and ensures safe standards of operation of site machinery and vehicles. - Assist with stock counts and record keeping for stocks, raw materials and finished goods. - Prepare delivery paperwork as required. - Report shortages in advance of delivery to customers and / or the salesforce as appropriate. - Support the Materials Controller; liaising with suppliers and outside stores to move raw materials, packaging and finished products. - Management of cross skilled team in the Warehouse and Yard, including, managing performance, absence, discipline and capability; accident investigations; recruitment, training and development. - Supervise Retail and Warehouse packing teams when Packing and Planning Supervisor is off shift or absent. - Physical requirements: Manual Handling (up to 25kgs), stairs & ladders to upper floors & platforms, variable noise levels due to machinery, fork truck operation, shunter driving. About YOU The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing / supervising a warehouse-based team and also be willing to, at times, be hands on You will have good knowledge of warehouse operations, including stock rotation, H&S, and logistics, and be a good communicator across all levels (including director-level). Experience working in a food manufacturing environment would be beneficial, but this can be taught and is not essential In return, a salary of £35,000 - £38,000 will be on offer, based on a 42.5 hour week (9am - 6pm) and will include one Saturday per month (typically the last Saturday each month, which will of course be paid).
