Working Hours: 08:00 AM - 06:00 PM, Monday to Friday (1-hour lunch break)
Job Overview
A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor - Mechanical to manage cost estimation, procurement, and financial control for mechanical installations on a major project. The successful candidate will oversee project costs, subcontractor valuations, and ensure cost-effective execution while maintaining compliance with UK (England and Wales) standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and procurement for:
1. Fire Fighting Systems
2. Sanitary Water Installations
3. Cooling Pipe Work Installations
4. HVAC Installations (Air Ducts, VRF Systems, AHUs, Exhaust Fans, etc.)
2. Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQ) based on project specifications.
3. Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier contracts for cost efficiency.
4. Track project costs, variations, and budget reports to ensure financial control.
5. Assist in preparing claims, variations, and change orders with proper documentation.
6. Verify and certify subcontractor payments based on completed work.
7. Work closely with project teams to implement cost control and value engineering.
8. Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and risk assessments.
Requirements
1. Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in mechanical quantity surveying for large-scale construction projects.
3. Strong understanding of cost control, budgeting, and contract management.
4. Knowledge of UK mechanical standards, codes, and regulations.
5. Experience in BoQ preparation, contract negotiations, and financial reporting.
6. Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Excel.
7. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
8. Valid UK work permit required.
