Job Title: Driver and Education Support Assistant Location: Special Needs School, Worcester Closing Date: 16:00 pm, Monday 3rd February 2025 Interviews: Monday 10th February 2025 Job Start Date: As soon as possible Salary: NJC Spine 5-6 - £24,790 - £25,183 FTE (pro-rata based on hours worked) Hours: 22.5 hours per week, 4.5 hours per day, Monday-Friday; Term Time Only Contract: Fixed Term for 12 months, with the potential to become permanent Shift Pattern: Fortnightly, to be shared across two roles. Key Responsibilities: Driver Role: Transport students to and from school daily in a safe and timely manner Ensure the vehicle is maintained, roadworthy, and checked daily Drive in accordance with the Highway Code, ensuring the safety of passengers at all times Coordinate travel routes and assist with communication regarding pupil needs Education Support Assistant Role: Provide support for students with educational, social, and emotional needs both in the classroom and during other school activities Work closely with teaching staff to support pupils, particularly those who are most at risk of placement breakdown Assist with transporting students and supporting them during out-of-school activities and trips Foster positive relationships with students and families, acting as a key contact for communication and emotional support The Ideal Candidate: Driver: Hold a clean D1 driving license with knowledge of the locality and experience transporting young people. MiDAS minibus qualification is desirable (training can be provided). Education Support Assistant: Experience working with young people, particularly those with challenging behavior. Knowledge of child protection procedures is essential. Personal Attributes: A positive and professional manner, excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work as part of a team. You should be adaptable and able to build trust with young people, supporting their well-being and educational progress. Additional Requirements: GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) First Aid at Work certification (or willingness to train) NVQ3 or equivalent in youth work/education welfare/caring for young people is desirable Ability to manage challenging behavior and implement basic strategies for behavior management Full, clean driving license for transporting pupils and accompanying them on trips Why Join This Special Needs School?
