At Barnett Waddingham, we are currently recruiting a Permanent opportunity for an experienced Purchase Ledger Supervisor to join the Finance business area. This role will be hybrid working and based in our London office.
The successful candidate will have a Finance and technical accounting background, along with strong experience in managing, coaching and mentoring teams.
A snapshot of your day:
1. Ensure all POs raised by the business are coded to correct nominal and balance sheet codes to facilitate accurate Management Accounts reporting for all departments.
2. Circulate a weekly report to the business of unreceipted POs and invoices awaiting POs.
3. Supervise, advise, train and provide technical support for a team of 4 Purchase Ledger Clerks.
4. Monitor daily, weekly, monthly and Year End tasks for the Purchase Ledger team.
5. Process manual and BACS run payment runs and ensure the process is on time.
6. Monitor and review short and long term Purchase Ledger KPIs with the Payables Manager.
7. Contribute to process improvement initiatives, identify key financial controls to manage risk as and where necessary and innovate system controls.
8. Support the Payables Manager during their absence.
9. Monitor the progress and provide monthly reporting of movement of balances in AP Project scope of work and Year End tasks for the Purchase Ledger team.
10. Ensure the team reduce manual processing of invoices.
11. Support, Implement and Maintain Information Security procedures and activities in accordance to Barnett Waddingham’s Information Security Policy.
Qualifications/Experience
1. Previous experience in a similar role, within a finance or purchase ledger department.
2. Knowledge of purchase ledger procedures is essential, including experience with payment runs and complex query resolution.
3. Previous experience working in a large sized business with high volumes of invoice processing and queries.
4. Ideally an accounting or finance qualification, or working towards such as AAT, although experience will take preference.
5. Experience of working within an accounting function.
6. Experience in Performance Management.
7. Knowledge of Oracle Fusion is a strong advantage.
8. Experience of Excel (Intermediate to Advanced).
9. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and managing stakeholder relationships.
10. Excellent attention to detail and good analytical skills.
