Job summary
The Adult Orthopaedic Inpatient Therapy at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital is looking to recruit a motivated, organised and reliable Band 4 Therapy Technician to work on the adult inpatient wards.
Main duties of the job
To assist in the delivery of therapy services by supporting Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the assessment and treatment of highly complex patients. This will include independently treating patients post-operatively on the short-stay ward and supporting our patient pathways.
To provide appropriate therapeutic interventions to patients referred by therapists and be able to progress these treatments as part of your own patient caseload, progressing patients along clinical milestones and ensuring safe and efficient discharge from hospital.
To independently assess patients prior to day case procedures and facilitate therapy discharge pre-operatively where appropriate.
To promote a rehab ethos on the ward, which involves encouraging patients to dress in day clothing, independent washing and dressing, walking to the toilet and sitting out for meals.
To be responsible for monitoring and ordering specialist equipment and materials required by the inpatient therapy teams. This requires liaison with both suppliers and therapists to ensure that cost and efficiency measures are considered throughout the process.

You must have previous experience of working with people with an injury or disability and an understanding of the role of an Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. To be successful in this role you must be physically fit as the post involves moving and handling of patients and equipment.

1. Good general level of education up to GCSE Equivalent (Minimum GCSE Maths/ English or equivalent)
2. Evidence of further education sports or exercise, anatomy physiology, exercise conditioning.
3. Health and Social Care access course

4. Any other relevant training Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi,, First Aid
5. Evidence of higher education related to health, sport or leisure at NVQ level 3/HND/BSc

7. Experience of delivering exercise or health educational programmes with an adult population
