Job Description
Our Client is a corporately owned Practice, and they are currently seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their team at their Stubbington branch, with the option to work across their main site in Gosport.
This full-time position offers a 4-day working week with 1 in 4 Saturdays (7.5-hour shifts) and a day off in lieu the following week. There are no out-of-hours (OOH) responsibilities, and the practice has a Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) system for the rare occasions when shifts run late. The role includes a variety of shifts, such as consultations, surgeries, and some emergency/ward work, ensuring no week is the same.
The practice operates with a team of 9 friendly vets, many of whom are certificate holders or working towards certification in areas such as medicine, behaviour, diagnostic imaging, and dermatology. The practice also has 14 RVNs and 5 SVNs, all capable of Schedule 3 procedures, running nurse-led clinics for weight management, diabetes, and geriatric care. Advanced practitioners in surgery and cardiology also visit regularly. The practice places a strong emphasis on Quality Improvement (QI), conducting regular clinical audits to enhance working practices. Monthly vet meetings are held to share CPD, discuss interesting cases, and suggest improvements.
As a Veterinary Surgeon, your role will involve a mix of consultations and surgeries, including sole charge responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to work with a dedicated team and gain experience in a variety of clinical areas. If desired, you can split your week to work between the Stubbington and Gosport sites. The practice offers access to a local CT scanner, ensuring advanced diagnostic capabilities.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a broad skill set and the ability to handle a variety of cases, including sole charge duties. A passion for professional development is essential, and the practice offers support for those wishing to pursue further qualifications or develop an area of interest.
The practice is equipped with a local CT scanner and provides access to advanced practitioners in surgery and cardiology, enabling a wide range of diagnostic and treatment options.
