Role Overview: To carry out all statutory duties, actions required under discretionary powers, and actions resulting from policy decisions, in the application of the Council’s corporate safety functions, as managed, administered, and enforced by the Environmental Health service. Key Responsibilities: Lead corporate health and safety efforts, ensuring compliance and providing expert guidance to senior management. Maintain and update health and safety policies and procedures, identifying training needs and developing programs. Conduct audits and risk assessments, investigate incidents, and monitor accident reporting procedures. Liaise with staff and external stakeholders to communicate health and safety updates and coordinate with relevant agencies. Stay informed on legislation, engage in professional development, and assist in training colleagues. Qualifications and Skills: Degree-level qualification or equivalent in health and safety at work, coupled with evidence of continuous professional development. Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail, adept at systematic evaluation and practical problem-solving. Effective team player, fostering positive relationships with colleagues, managers, and external stakeholders. Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and consistently to diverse audiences.
