Job overview
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse, capable of demonstrating the appropriate levels of relevant experience, qualifications, and competencies to lead our nursing team in the Critical Care Unit. The Clinical Matrons will work in a 'triumvirate role' alongside the cluster manager and lead clinician, ensuring patient safety, quality, governance and financial management for the service.
We consider the Clinical Matron role pivotal in supporting the delivery of our vision. Within the framework of modern matron principles, your primary responsibility will be to ensure clinical quality standards are met. This will be achieved through inspirational and visible clinical leadership to the nursing teams within the medicine division, while also meeting key trust targets related to patient flow.
As part of the management team within ASCR, your role will be fundamental in enhancing the focus on patient experience and the quality agenda. This role is crucial in the planning, implementation, and delivery of emergency pathway services. You will provide visionary, supportive, and challenging leadership to enthusiastic and experienced multi-professional teams.
Main duties of the job
Clinical matron principles are a set of guidelines and responsibilities designed to ensure high standards of clinical care, patient safety, and staff management within healthcare settings. These principles have evolved over time and include:
1. Inclusive Leadership: Providing compassionate and inclusive leadership to promote high standards of clinical care and patient safety.
2. Professional Standards and Accountability: Ensuring adherence to professional standards and accountability within the nursing teams.
3. Governance and Quality: Overseeing governance, patient safety, and quality of care.
4. Workforce Management: Managing workforce planning and resources effectively.
5. Patient Experience: Focusing on improving patient experience and reducing health inequalities.
6. Performance Management: Monitoring and managing performance and operational oversight.
7. Digital and Information Technology: Incorporating digital technology and information management into practice.
8. Education and Development: Supporting education, training, and professional development of staff.
9. Research and Development: Encouraging research and development to improve clinical practices.
10. Service Improvement: Leading service improvement and transformation initiatives.
These principles help modern matrons provide effective leadership and ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
