Praesidio is a globally recognised, specialist online safety agency that believes every child has a right to be safe and to thrive in the online environment. Praesidio is currently looking to recruit an individual with experience of carrying out robust applied research in an agile environment, managing small research teams to achieve research outcomes. Our particular specialism is in depth qualitative research, including designing and running engagement sessions with children and young people and vulnerable groups. Candidates should also be confident in dealing with both qualitative and quantitative data, and excellent at analysis and report writing.
The individual also needs to be comfortable working across a range of different projects in a fluid and fast-paced environment. Project delivery may include both direct consultancy and advice as well as developing and implementing partnerships and supporting the design and development of innovative prevention campaigning. The individual ideally should have an interest in digital safeguarding work, and experience of international or humanitarian programming would be an advantage.
Responsibilities:
1. To develop and implement projects on behalf of Praesidio and take a leadership role.
2. To take responsibility for the quality of research underpinnings of Praesidio projects and to produce high quality written outputs arising from Praesidio’s research and consultancy work.
3. To structure and design research projects and to lead, develop and mentor more junior members of the Praesidio team to ensure successful completion of the research, while helping more junior team members develop their research skills.
4. To help develop and standardise our policies and approaches helping us to set a baseline and consistency of standards.
5. To work confidently and independently to foster partnerships and collaborations with multiple external stakeholders including children and young people, parents, safeguarding professionals, policy leads and numerous external partners and clients.
6. To keep abreast of current developments and best practice in the areas of safeguarding and digital safeguarding and to provide timely advice and guidance to colleagues in response to legislation, government guidance and research; to share and extend this learning across Praesidio’s projects.
7. To identify and pursue opportunities to develop and deliver new activities and services in accordance with Praesidio’s aims, objectives and priorities; working with external organisations and prospective funders to develop high quality project proposals and bids.
8. To actively promote Praesidio’s vision and values in relation to safeguarding and quality assurance; to represent Praesidio at local, regional and national forums and events as required.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
1. Degree in IR, Social Science, Public Policy, Criminology, Political Science, History or other relevant field providing research skills and experiences (relevant master's degree desirable).
2. Experience of leading complex research projects including knowledge and familiarity with different research methods.
3. Experience of co-ordinating and driving complex multi-stakeholder projects.
4. Excellent written and report writing skills.
5. Strong and proven data analysis skills.
6. Strong oral and presentation skills.
7. Digital safeguarding expertise preferable.
8. Experience in working sensitively with children and/or vulnerable groups.
9. Highly organised and proactive.
10. Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Teams.
11. Published works regarding safeguarding and/or digital policy.
12. Presenting and training skills.
13. Experience of International work in development or humanitarian fields.
14. Communications/journalism or public health experience.

Outstanding written skills are essential for this position and will be tested at interview.
