We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Portering, Distribution & Linen Manager to join our Estates and Facilities Division, providing a hands-on management style to the BRI Portering & Distribution teams.
This is an exciting opportunity to join and develop what is an established role to work alongside a credible and professional management team within this forward-thinking Division. The Estates and Facilities Division is recognised for making a difference by enabling, getting things done, and never walking by an opportunity to challenge or improve the service we provide to both patients and colleagues.
The ideal candidate will:
* Have experience of managing and motivating teams
* Have experience of working in large teams in industries such as retail, soft FM, customer service, etc.
* Be professionally skilled in focusing on opportunities that exceed the perceived expectations of the services provided
* Be used to working with complex rotas and multiple priorities
Main duties of the job
Your day-to-day tasks will include but are not limited to:
* Day-to-day management and operation of the Portering, House Waste service, Post and Distribution Centre facilities, which includes managing all staff in these areas
* Promote good levels of staff morale using sound internal communication, and ensure a program of continuous service improvement
* Assist with regular team meetings to discuss and update all changes in policies, systems, and procedures, and to feed back any concerns/actions
* Assist in the operation of the Task Management System within the Portering team, which will involve analysing complex data to provide a more efficient and effective service.
* Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of service delivery, reporting on failure to meet standards.

Person specification
Knowledge and experience
* Demonstrable experience of managing a team of staff
* Experience of managing rotas
* Experience of Health & Safety in the workplace
* Experience of budget management
* Demonstrable experience in either a Stores/Portering or a customer/service-related industry
* An understanding of Manual Handling techniques
Qualifications
* Appropriate management qualification or equivalent level of knowledge through experience
* Supervisory/management qualification or formal management training or equivalent experience
Skills
* An ability to build effective team working relationships to improve and develop ancillary team and services
* Ability to participate in the activities of the staff groups being managed, e.g., cleaning and assembly of equipment
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and respond to unpredictable events quickly and effectively
