Our client is seeking a skilled Building Surveyor for a contract position based in the Midlands. This role will initially be for three months, with the potential to extend. Key Responsibilities: Reporting and supplying recommendations for improvements/maintenance requirements to Council properties, taking into account listed buildings and conservation areas. Undertaking planned and ad hoc repairs and maintenance of Council properties, including drawing up specifications, repairs orders, and contract documents for works. Managing contractor performance to deliver works on time, on budget, and to the required standard, including effective contract administration. Inspecting works prior to acceptance and payment at practical completion and end of defects liability stages, incorporating the production of comprehensive snagging sheets. Preparing accurate and achievable programmes of work stages and monitoring progress against these. Providing support and advice on CDM projects for various service areas. Remaining up to date with changes to CDM & Building regulations, IOSH, and HSE Guidance. Ensuring compliance with all Council policies and procedures, including Health and Safety of employees, contractors, and visitors. Job Requirements: Experience in building surveying, including a good basic knowledge of building construction. Ability to prepare reports and contribute to contract documentation such as Bills of Quantities. Working knowledge of JCT standard forms of contract law and ability to act as Contract Administrator. Experience in carrying out and vetting risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies. The ability to ensure a pro-active approach is taken to equality and diversity issues. Proficiency in providing regular service reports. Competence in maintaining standards of safety as required by current legislation. Benefits: Contract position with the potential to extend.
