Internship Exploring General Business & Beyond
The Summer Scholars Program is a mentored research internship offered by EVMS and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia. This competitive summer program is open to college seniors (rising or graduating) and first- or second-year graduate or medical students who are exploring potential careers in Clinical Medicine/Quality Improvement, Laboratory Biomedical Science, Public/Community Health, Education Research, or Health Behavior/Psychology. Our Program is a great learning opportunity for students interested in careers in clinical medicine and health-related research.
Students chosen for the program will conduct a pre-selected, mentored research project and present their project outcomes to the scientific community. This summer experience includes didactic research training and personalized application in research design and implementation. All students write an abstract and present a research poster at the end of the summer session. Learning opportunities differ by project and vary widely. Examples of opportunities include leading focus groups, interviewing patients in clinical settings, and performing laboratory-based research.
Research experience is helpful but not required. Applicants should include any relevant experience on the application form, including language skills, volunteer activities, and hobbies.
Students are expected to participate for the entire program. Program dates are June 2, 2025 – July 31, 2025.
