You'll play a central role in driving the growth of two of the Group’s key brands: Direct Corporate Clothing (off-the-shelf PPE and workwear contract specialists) and Incorporatewear (bespoke corporate uniform specialists). You’ll also help establish WWUGL as a renowned brand in and of itself.
Job Purpose:
As Head/Director of Warehouse and Logistics, you will oversee end-to-end warehouse and logistics operations, ensuring the efficient flow of goods across all business units. This strategic role involves developing and executing inventory, distribution, and transportation strategies while driving efficiency through automation, Lean Six Sigma, and continuous improvement. You will also manage budgets, optimise costs, and lead teams to enhance operational performance and service delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Planning
* Develop and implement a comprehensive warehouse and logistics strategy aligned with company objectives.
* Lead, inspire, and manage warehouse and logistics teams across multiple sites to achieve performance targets, KPIs, and operational excellence.
* Establish short- and long-term plans to optimise warehouse operations, logistics efficiency, and resource utilisation.
* Champion automation initiatives and Lean Six Sigma principles to drive process improvements, waste reduction, and operational innovation.
Warehouse Operations and Management
* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouses, including storage, inventory control, and the dispatch of goods.
* Implement best practices to improve stock accuracy, minimise losses, and enhance inventory management.
* Lead process improvements such as layout optimisation, technology integration, and automation adoption.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while maintaining well-organised and properly maintained warehouse facilities.
Logistics and Distribution
* Oversee the transportation and distribution of goods, ensuring timely deliveries and cost-effective logistics solutions.
* Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers to secure competitive pricing and high service levels.
* Monitor logistics performance metrics and take corrective action to improve delivery times, cost-efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
* Manage the logistics budget, continuously identifying opportunities to reduce transport and delivery costs.
Automation Integration and Technology Optimisation
* Identify, evaluate, and implement automation technologies to improve warehouse efficiency, packing operations, and overall productivity.
* Oversee the integration of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and leverage data analytics and KPIs to monitor and enhance performance.
* Explore innovative solutions to streamline warehouse and logistics operations.
Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement through the application of Lean Six Sigma principles.
* Lead cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements, eliminate inefficiencies, and enhance productivity.
* Utilise data-driven decision-making to optimise warehouse layout, operations, and service delivery.
Goods-In, Goods-Out, and Returns Processing
* Manage the efficient receipt, inspection, and storage of incoming goods, ensuring real-time inventory updates.
* Oversee the accurate and timely processing of customer orders, packaging, and shipping to reduce lead times.
* Develop and manage procedures for handling customer returns efficiently, minimising delays and maintaining customer satisfaction.
Hygiene, Cleanliness, and Safety
* Establish and enforce hygiene protocols, particularly for PPE and hygiene-related products.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation within warehouse facilities and equipment.
* Promote and enforce workplace safety protocols, promptly addressing hazards and incidents to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Budget Control and Cost Management
* Develop and manage the warehouse and logistics budget, ensuring financial controls align with organisational objectives.
* Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality or operational efficiency.
* Regularly report on budget performance, expenses, and cost optimisation initiatives.
Equipment and Facility Management
* Ensure the maintenance and safe operation of warehouse facilities and automated equipment.
* Coordinate with the maintenance team to address equipment malfunctions or operational issues promptly.
Team Leadership and Development
* Recruit, train, and manage warehouse and logistics staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, performance excellence, and continuous learning.
* Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching, and facilitate professional development.
* Encourage innovation, collaboration, and professional growth within the teams.
Supply Chain Coordination
* Collaborate with procurement, production, sales, and other departments to align logistics operations with wider business objectives.
* Support demand planning and forecasting to ensure the timely availability of materials and products.
* Provide timely and accurate reporting on inventory levels, inbound and outbound shipments, and key warehouse and logistics metrics.
Compliance and Risk Management
* Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations relating to warehousing, logistics, and transportation.
* Monitor and mitigate risks associated with warehouse operations, logistics, and transportation.
* Maintain awareness of the company’s ISO 19001, 14001, and 45001 accreditations and related objectives.
Data Analysis and Reporting
* Leverage data analysis tools to monitor performance, generate reports, and provide strategic insights to senior management.
* Present recommendations and operational findings to drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
Other Duties
* Occasional travel may be required to oversee operations at various locations or meet with external partners.
* Attend annual company training and refresher courses.
* Undertake any additional tasks or duties as requested by management.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field (preferred).
Experience Required:
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and driving strategic initiatives.
* Extensive knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics processes, supply chain management, and automated warehouse systems.
* Expertise in WMS, ERP systems, logistics technologies, forklift operation, and packaging equipment.
* Strong financial acumen, with experience in budget management, cost optimisation, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
* Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills with third-party logistics providers.
* In-depth understanding of health, safety, and regulatory requirements within the logistics industry.
* Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.

Minimum Education Requirements:
* Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in warehouse and logistics management, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
