Job summary The primary focus of this role is to provide an effective & high quality service in relation to the specified clinical procedures within the endoscopy service. To provide evidence-based care to the patients and their families attending the Unit by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care without direct supervision but within their scope of professional practice. Take an active role in contributing to developing nursing practice within the Unit. Participate in the achievement of departmental & Trust objectives. Participate as an effective member of the nursing and multi-disciplinary team. To have an understanding of and participate in maintaining standards as set by the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) and in the Global Rating Scale for Endoscopy and JAG accreditation. Main duties of the job To assist in the delivery of effective services to patients within the hospital setting, utilising an evidence-based approach. Provide patients with information about the department & specified procedures as necessary, answering questions and providing additional advice as required. Complete the assessment of patient care needs, management of treatment and evaluation of clinical interventions, reflecting the needs of patients attending the Endoscopy Unit. Adhere to Trust and Unit policies and procedures and contribute to their development. Support the Clinical Endoscopy Manager in meeting the Unit / Trust aims and objectives in accordance with JAG Quality standards. Identify any changes to working practice that would enhance the care of patients and agree any changes with Clinical lead prior to implementation. Uphold all standards as identified by the NMC, including Code of Professional conduct, documentation, medicines administration. To attend and actively participate in ward meetings. Maintaining a positive relationship with all staff involved in patient care in order that patient's receive a quality service. Act as patients advocate.
